The OWL (Web Ontology Language) representation of the schema, using the OWL/XML syntax (not RDF/XML or Functional syntax), is automatically generated from the source files.
This version was prepared with the intention of compliance with OWL 2.
The strategy for representation in this format is:
- Each entity gets associated with an OWL class.
- Each property gets associated with an OWL object property.
- The human-readable label string for entities and properties is represented with an OWL annotation property of type RDFS label.
- The definitions of entities and properties are represented by an OWL annotation property of type IAO definition.
- No additional classes are created to correspond to tables, and no additional properties are created to correspond to fields.
- Instead, each table field corresponds to an OWL subclass axiom using the existential quantification pattern.
- External ontology references become “soft” references as rdfs:seeAlso annotation properties.
